The Order of St. Basil The Great
Completed in 2013
The St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church was designed by the architects Bernard Brown and Alex Nitchuk from Green Blankstein Russell and Associates in the early to mid 1960s. The building was completed in 1966 and is one of the finest examples of the modernist style in Manitoba. The elevator addition constructed in 2013 at the east side of the church seamlessly integrates into the existing building while introducing the new design elements to the façade. Concerted rhythm of the vertical aluminum fins in the fenestration at the east and south sides of the new addition implicitly identifies the outline of the new structure.
